Kathryn O'Kell
Kathryn O’Kell creates beautiful hand crafted panels, delicately carved in English lime wood. They are then painted, usually with watered down acrylics, and layered and sanded until the desired effect is achieved. Paint is used to emphasize the carved marks and any movement it suggests. Finally, a wax polish is applied to give a soft sheen to the surface of the wood. This also intensifies the depth of colours and brings out the painted highlights.
Kathryn O’Kell studied at Wolverhampton Polytechnic and Mid Cheshire College of Art and Design. She now lives and works in Worcestershire. She has received many commissions including eight large panels for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Liners and a carved lintel for the Usher Gallery, Lincoln
