David Powell primarily lives and works as a farmer in rural Herefordshire. For many years he has cultivated bonsai trees, gaining a passion for this Japanese art form. This inspired him to turn his hand to creating lifelike tree sculptures. Each piece is meticulously crafted to capture the unique character and nature of the tree. Every tree takes at least eighty hours to create and perfect.
Inspiration is gained from careful and precise observation. The trees are mainly made using reclaimed and recycled metal from David’s local area. Each branch is hand-applied at various angles as you would find in nature. Textures are softly manipulated into the trunk to emulate bark. Once complete, each sculpture is lacqured and embellished with the DP signature. Each tree is unique, with its own name, and is supplied with a care kit.
