Ruth Charlton
Ruth Charlton is a sculptor based in Cumbria. She first discovered clay on a foundation course at Portsmouth College of Art and Design in the late 70’s. After this, she gained a place on a ceramics degree course at Bath Academy of Art. Her ceramic work has always been based around the human figure, enjoying the challenge of capturing expressions and character. She makes detailed, small scale pieces as well as more symbolic, sculptural work. We are pleased to display her range of rock climbers, a popular activity here in the English Lake District.
