Dominic Richardson
Dominic’s use of colour, texture and depth in his landscape painting creates a special atmosphere. An intuitive, tactile approach in building up the layers is made even more remarkable by the fact that he mostly applies the oils directly with his left hand. At the age of two he was involved in a road traffic accident which resulted in brain injury, causing right-sided paralysis and partial sightedness. The characteristics associated with his injury have in fact given him the unique and heightened way of perceiving colour and space that is evident in all of his work.
Based in Alston in Cumbria, Dom frequently goes out hiking in the North Pennines and in the Lake District, as well as in other rugged parts of the UK and beyond. These subjects have become the cornerstones of his work.
Dominic Richardson exhibits and sells his original paintings in galleries and at national Art Fairs across the UK
