John Davenport
John Davenport has been creating his distinctive ceramics for many years but only started focussing fully on them in 2008.
He first exhibited at Potfest in the Pens at Penrith and expanded from there. He has had pieces accepted to the Lake Artists Society annual show and is a memeber of Green Door Artists in Kendal. Through them he has exhibited at Farfield Mill, Brockhole, Kendal Museum and Upfront Gallery.
John’s only formal training in ceramics has been a number of one-day and one-week courses run by Gordon Cooke of Sale, Manchester. He has discovered that you can still make great progress – providing you are willing to go on getting it wrong! As John says “no pot is ever the perfect object which glowed in your mind at the start, but it is still a rewarding journey with, happily, no end in sight.”
